Meet Dr. Heather Horton
Your Woodbury, Minnesota Board Certified Orthodontist
Dr. Heather Horton grew up in Chippewa Falls, WI and was valedictorian, student council president and a multi-sport athlete. She had a wonderfully close-knit family anchored by her parents, Roger and Sharon (who have been married for over 50 years!) and her fantastic siblings: her older brother, Matthew, and her younger sister, Ashley.
She went on to complete both her undergraduate and doctor of dental surgery (DDS) degrees at the University of Minnesota. While there she competed for the Gophers on the cross country and track and field teams. She attributes much of her success to the values she learned and friendships she made while on those teams. In addition to academics and athletics, she was also heavily involved in service, research, and leadership, most notably as the chair of the Student Health Advisory Council.
After dental school she attended the prestigious Case Western Reserve University for her orthodontic residency. Her research while there earned first place at the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists meeting!
Dr. Heather Horton didn’t see her education as complete after her orthodontic residency, but rather as a jumping off point. She voluntarily studied and became a board certified orthodontist, and continues to maintain that certification. She also faithfully dedicates time to continuing education opportunities multiple times a year to stay at the cutting-edge of all new techniques and technologies. She is a firm believer in continuous innovation and learning.
In addition to her involvement in her practice and in lifelong learning, Dr. Horton also firmly believes in being involved in the community, both her professional community and the Woodbury and surrounding community. She is the current president of Minnesota Association of Orthodontists and the past president of St. Paul District Dental Society! She is also a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
While in school, Dr. Horton met the love of her life, Frank. He is an engineer, a master problem solver, and outstanding partner. They have three wonderful children, Fitzgerald, Vienne and Estelle. They fulfill their lives and keep every day exciting and fun!
